베트남 농촌 숙박시설 공모전
Mù Cang Chải is a rural district of Yên Bái Province, in the Northeast region of Vietnam. This region is poor and relatively undeveloped but it has a rich natural environment.
In recent years, Mù Cang Chải has been a popular place to visit, particularly when the rice harvest starts from the beginning of October. The Mù Cang Chải Rice Terrace Fields stretch across 2,200 hectares of the mountainside as narrow layers of terraces ranging from between 1m and 1.5m wide.
The rice fields are designed in such a way that the water flows through the terraces when it rains. It is indeed a very smart technique for making the most of the topography of this rugged area, letting nature taking care of itself.
The objective of the present competition for students of architecture and young architects, Rural Tourism Accommodation (RuTA) Vietnam, consists in proposing lodging for tourists that come to this rural area of the country looking for the beauty of its landscape.
The rationale for this architectural space must be rice fields and its distinctive shape on the slope of mountains. It must highlight the importance of the rural area in which it will be located.
The proposal must offer a unique experience, assimilating a privileged environment in which views play a key role in discovering and understanding the singularities of the fields. It must pay special attention both to surrounding and distant landscapes.
The project can be freely developed anywhere in the proposed location, but the participants must look for the balance between the suggested uses and the environment.
Every proposal is allowed to define the uses and the appropriate dimensions taking into account the number of expected visitors and the concept proposed by each participant or group of participants.
드높은 산들이 끝도 없이 이어진 베트남 북동부 지역. 그 굽이치는 산등성이를 따라가다 보면 베트남 최고의 명승지 중 하나인 무깡짜이 지역에 다다르게 된다.
해발 천 미터에 위치한 고산지대 마을을 유명하게 만든 건, 보이는 언덕마다 펼쳐져 있는 계단식 논이다. 무깡짜이 지역에 거주하던 소수민족이 고산지대의 기후와 지형에 맞춰 일궈낸 것으로 전체 면적은 2,200헥타르에 달한다.
금빛 벼로 가득한 폭 1m 남짓의 계단은 층층이 이어져 마치 하늘까지 닿을 듯하다. 벼가 익는 가을철이 되면 그 아름다움은 배가 된다. 가히 ‘천국의 계단’이라 부를만한 풍경이다.
자연과 인간이 함께 만들어낸 걸작, 무깡짜이에 어울리는 숙박시설은 어떤 모습일까? 그 창의적 해법을 찾기 위한 아이디어 공모전이 개최된다.
핵심은 산등성이에 조성된 논의 풍경과 자연스럽게 연계되면서도 방문객들에게 특별한 경험을 선사하는 것. 숙박시설의 위치나 규모, 프로그램 등 구체적인 내용은 자유롭게 설정할 수 있으나, 경사면이라는 독특한 형태적 요소를 지니고 있는 만큼 공간적인 근거도 이와 연계되어야 한다.
무깡짜이처럼 아름다운 자연을 만끽할 수 있는, 전 세계 농촌 지역 건축의 좋은 선례가 될만한 아이디어들을 기다린다.
