Houston Endowment is one of the largest private foundations in Texas and a leader in Houston’s philanthropic space.
For the past 15 years, the foundation has leased offices in the city’s business district. Now, the opportunity to create a new dedicated headquarters on a more accessible site will enable it to step up its engagement with the local community – to live into its commitments to the people of greater Houston.
Houston Endowment’s aim is to select an outstanding design team and concept design for their new headquarters building.
The competition is a two-stage process. The first stage of the competition is seeking design teams. Architects, landscape architects and designers who meet the Search Statement’s requirements are invited to submit an Expression of Interest detailing an initial approach to the project, their experience and relevant design skills. No design is required at the first stage.
A shortlist of at least four competitors will be selected to participate in Stage Two of the competition.
The finalists will be asked to create multidisciplinary teams, including structural and services engineering and an architect registered in the state of Texas and to prepare design concepts for the headquarters building. A technical panel will review the entries and produce a report for the Selection Committee, who will conduct interviews and select a winner. Each shortlisted team that submits a compliant entry will receive an honorarium of US$50,000 at the conclusion of the competition.
