Anyplace Work Fujiyoshida
O.F.D.A + Takusakaushi Lab – Tokyo university of Sience
Takusakaushi Lab has designed a coworking space on the third floor of an office building located about a five minute walk from Fujisan Station.
One of the attractive features of the existing building is that of the glass curtain walls which cover three sides of the building, so the architects placed work desks along them such that all users can enjoy the view from the windows. A wooden screen with a sliding door is mounted in front of each desk so that users can choose to block the sunlight when required or to look outside. The designs elevate the center of the room by 900 mm to create a breakout area where workers can enjoy the panoramic view, including of Mt. Fuji. The space around the breakout area is elevated by an additional 1100 mm, and various functional spaces, including a reception area, individual booths, a meeting space, and a phone booth are provided under it. With this project, a new type of facility that supports modern ways of working, such as telework, has been born in Fujiyoshida City.
