The 6th LafargeHolcim Awards

The LafargeHolcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction was created in 2003 to raise awareness of the important role that architecture, engineering, urban planning and the building industry have in achieving a more sustainable future.

The LafargeHolcim Awards competition recognizes innovative projects and future-oriented concepts – and is the most significant global competition for sustainable design. The 6th cycle of the international competition seeks leading projects of professionals as well as bold ideas from the Next Generation that combine sustainable construction solutions with architectural excellence.

The competition runs in two phases. In the regional phase, independent juries evaluate submissions in each of the geographic regions: Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East Africa, and Asia Pacific. A total of 11 prizes are conferred in each region. In the global phase, the 15 projects that received Awards in the regional phase automatically qualify for the Global Awards. An independent panel of internationally renowned experts allocates Global Awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Category and Eligibility
(1) Main category: architects, engineers, planners, project owners, builders and construction firms for projects at an advanced stage of design with high probability of execution.
(2) Next Generation category: young professionals and students up to 30 years of age seeks visions and bold idea (date of birth must be later than June 4, 1988)

Schedule
(1) Regional Awards
– Q&A platform and Helpdesk: until closing
– Close of registration: February 25 (UTC 14:00)
– Jury meetings: June to July
– Awards ceremonies: September to November
(2) Global Awards
– Jury meeting: March, 2021
– Handover events: from mid, 2021

Submission
– Author and contact details
– Project data and description (including construction costs and CO2 lifecycle assessment for main category)
– Project images (5~10 images, JPG, PNG, BMP or TIF format, max 9,000 x 6,750 pixels or 15 MB)

– Gold: USD 100,000
– Silver: USD 50,000
– Bronze: USD 30,000
(2) Next Generation category
– 1st prize:USD 25,000
– 2nd prize: USD 20,000
– 3rd prize: USD 15,000
– 4th prize: USD 10,000
(3) Global LafargeHolcim Awards
– Gold: USD 150,000
– Silver: USD 100,000
– Bronze: USD 50,000
– Wild Card: USD 50,000
