Nexus Seoul Next 100: City Architect Partners Forum

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will host the Nexus Seoul Next 100: City Architect Partners Forum on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 3:00 PM (KST) at the Multipurpose Hall on the 8th floor of Seoul City Hall. Under the theme “Seoul Asks, the World Answers,” the forum will serve as a platform for global experts in urban planning, architecture, and landscape design to collaborate with citizens and explore innovative strategies for enhancing Seoul’s urban environment and quality of life.

1. A Vision for the Next 100 Years
The forum will open with a keynote speech by Seoul’s City Architect, Byung-Keun Kang, titled “Seoul’s Question: A Vision for the Next 100 Years.” This presentation will outline the city’s long-term vision for sustainable urban development and spatial planning.
In response, internationally renowned City Architect Partners will share insights on the theme “The World’s Answer: Directions for a Sustainable Future City.” Featured speakers include:

– Dominique Perrault (France)
– Ben van Berkel (Netherlands)
– Jürgen Mayer (Germany)
– James Corner (USA) – Video Participation
– Thomas Heatherwick (UK) – Video Participation

2. Panel Discussion
Following the keynote presentations, a panel discussion will be led by Byung-Keun Kang, bringing together leading domestic and international experts to further examine Seoul’s urban future. Panelists include:

– Jahoon Koo (Professor, Hanyang University)
– MoonGyu Choi (Professor, Yonsei University)
– Pilsu Maeng (Professor, Seoul National University)
– John Hong (Professor, Seoul National University)
– Woongseong Oh (Professor, Hongik University)
– Dominique Perrault (France)
– Ben van Berkel (Netherlands)
– Jürgen Mayer H. (Germany)

The discussion will incorporate audience participation through an open Q&A session.

3. A Hybrid Event for Global Engagement
The forum will be held in both offline and online formats, ensuring accessibility for participants worldwide. A live broadcast will be available via Seoul’s official YouTube channel (@seoullive), allowing global audiences to engage with the discussions in real time.
