각기 다른 볼륨의 매스로 산업시설물의 새 유형을 제시한 스페인 비야누에바 드 라 세레나의 공장 겸 업무시설

This project is located to the north of a large plot in an industrial estate on the outskirts of the city of Villanueva de la Serena, Extremadura, Spain. The client approached Estudio Arquitectura with the intention building two industrial buildings with similar programs: a series of open-plan work spaces, offices, and double-height storage for goods. Rather than construct two disparate buildings, the proposal was instead to resolve all the demands in a single formal unit, with a paired typology and within the same formal strategy.
프로젝트가 진행된 곳은 스페인 엑스트레마두라 라 세레나 빌라누에바 시 외곽, 드넓은 산업 부지 북부이다. 고객은 비슷한 프로그램으로 두 채의 산업 건물을 지으려는 목표를 세우고 에스투디오 건축사무소에 일을 맡겼다. 작업 공간, 사무실, 2층 높이의 제품 창고를 갖춘 두 채의 오픈 플랜 건물을 지으려는 것이었다. 그래서 완전히 다른 두 개의 건물을 짓는 대신, 동일한 유형 두 개가 짝지어져 이루어지는, 형식적으로 똑같은 전략을 취하는 하나의 유닛 안에 모든 요구를 반영하면 어떻겠느냐고 제안했다.
그 제안은 나란히 붙어 선 두 유형 안 동쪽에서 서쪽으로 프로그램을 구현하는데, 그것은 건물 형태를 건물의 표면과 용도, 부지의 지형에 맞게 조정한다는 뜻이다.
고객이 제안한 용도들은 연속적으로 배열되었다. 건물 남쪽은 산업 용도로, 건물 북쪽은 사무실과 창고로 쓰인다. 건물 각 부분은 프로그램의 요구에 맞게 계속해서 조정되고, 사용자들은 제각각 일정 표면과 관계를 맺게 되며, 각 건물은 그것이 수용하는 용도의 요구에 따라 쓰인다.
The proposal organizes the program from east to west, in semidetached typology, which adapts its morphology to the surface and volume of the uses and the orography of the plot.
The proposed uses are consecutively arranged: the industrial uses to the south and the offices and warehouses to the north. Each part is continuously adapted to the needs of the program, each user is associated with a specific surface and each volume arises from the needs of the use it houses.
The proposal is part of a series of works where the architects test the boundaries between urban and rural landscapes through an industrial use. Here, the land is unspoilt, undeveloped, being on the outskirts of the city.
건축가는 도시 풍경과 농촌 풍경의 경계선 지역이 산업 용도로 쓰이면 어떨까 시험해보는 작업의 일환으로 그런 제안을 했다. 그 지역이 도시 외곽이면서도 아직 토양이 훼손되지 않았고 개발되지 않은 곳이었기 때문이다.
고전적인 건축물처럼 그 건물은 콘크리트를 쌓아 외벽을 만들고 그 위에 금속 피복을 덮었다. 단단하게 쌓은 콘크리트의 차가움은 건물과 풍경의 관계를 맺어주는 반면, 구조적 질서는 복합 단지의 규모와 도시적 기념물이라는 아이디어 사이에 관련성을 만들어준다.
새 건물은 또 산업 부지 안 주변 다른 건물들의 단조로움에서 벗어나 있다. 가까이 다가가서 보면 건물들의 다양한 크기가 또렷하게 모습을 드러내지만 멀리에서 보면 하나의 건물처럼 보인다.
다양한 건물 규모와 빛을 내는 건물 내부는 건물을 개방적, 역동적으로 만들고, 건물은 주변 풍경과 직접적인 관계를 마음껏 맺는다.
As if it were a classic composition, the building is constructed through stacked concrete façades blinded with a metal cladding. The brutality of the hard-executed concrete links the building with the landscape, while the structural order created links the scale of the complex with an idea of urban monumentality.
The new building also departs from the monotony of the surrounding buildings in the industrial estate. Its diverse volumetry is apparent when experienced at close proximity, whereas from a distance it appears as one unit.
Varied scales and luminous interiors generate an open and dynamic building which enjoys a direct relationship to the surrounding landscape.
