The Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2021 (SBAU2021) is launching an international Call for Proposals (CFP) to select projects to be displayed in the Biennale’s main section, the Cities and Thematic Exhibition.
Proposals will be selected through this online Call for Proposals with the intention of gathering works conducted or planned for one hundred cities from the five continents.
The number of selected projects is not limited and all relevant projects may be selected. All submissions will be reviewed during a selection procedure. The selected proposals, provided their technical and financial feasibility, aim to be realized at the SBAU2021.
Proposals must consider, either discussing and/or challenging the five intersecting topics of the “Crossroads” Biennale: ‘Crossroads 1: ABOVE / BELOW’, ‘Crossroads 2: HERITAGE / MODERN’, ‘Crossroads 3: CRAFT / DIGITAL’, ‘Crossroads 4: NATURAL / ARTIFICIAL’, ‘Crossroads 5: SAFE / RISK’.
1. Eligibility
– individuals, institutions or organizations, or cross-disciplinary teams from individuals, institutions or organizations
– Team members may include but are not limited to: architects, designers, urban planners, researchers, writers, artists, critics, students (as a member of a team), etc.
– The number of participants in a team shall be limited to 10 people, including both individuals and institutions.
2. Schedule
– Deadline for registration: Jun 30, midnight (Korean time)
– Deadline for submission of proposals: July 31, midnight (Korean time)
– Selection process: August / September
– Selected teams are notified on the website: Mid-October
