Scenography telling the story of modern Latvia
The multimedia dance performance “Both Sides” was created as the culminating event of Latvia’s centenary celebrations in 2018. Through music, choreography, scenography, video and light projections, the story of the emergence of Latvia and the experiences of the last hundred years was told. A 2,000m2 large stage was designed in the shape of the Latvian flag, which functioned not only as a symbol of the nation, but also as a space-making element. It created a dance floor for large scenes of groups of dancers and smaller spaces for soloists simultaneously. The polygonal surface of the scenography also worked as a giant video projection screen, for photos and video interpretations of Latvian history.
