The results of the 7th Baku International Architecture Award have been announced. The Baku International Architecture Award is held every two years in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Union of Architects, and the International Union of Architects(UIA), aiming to discover new ideas in urban planning and architectural design, explore meaningful design in buildings and structures, and seek solutions in spatial design. From 2013 to 2023, architects from 53 countries have participated, and this year, out of 270 entries from 38 countries, 1st to 3rd places were selected in seven categories.
Category A: Best implemented project of public architecture
In Category A, Best Implemented Public Architecture, 1st place was awarded to Diriyah Art Futures by Schiattarella AmedeoItaly. Located in Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Saudi Arabia, it is the first digital art hub in the Middle East and North Africa. Opened in 2024, it operates exhibition, research, and educational programs in a space that reinterprets traditional Najd architecture in a contemporary way, supporting emerging artists. 2nd place went to SOCAR Tower by Jung Young-kyunHeerim Architects & Planners, Republic of Korea, and 3rd place to Casa Mortuária de Barrancos by Paulo DiasPortugal.

Category B: Best implemented project of residential architecture
In Category B, Best Implemented Residential Architecture, 1st place went to Viciana Building by José Fernández-Llebrez MuñozSpain, a residence designed with high ceilings supported by cross-shaped steel columns. 2nd place was awarded to Neer – Vacation House by Zishan Fuad ChowdhuryBangladesh, and 3rd place to Meghrod(Sun and Cloud) by Mohammad MasudBangladesh.

Category C: Best implemented interior
In Category C, Best Implemented Interiors, 1st place was awarded to Architecture Studio by Raulino SilvaPortugal. The project renovated a rural house built in 1936, exposing the wooden roof structure and finishing the walls and floors anew. 2nd and 3rd places went to Coca-Cola Office Interior by Sharif Uddin AhammedBangladesh and Mak Design House by Shams SanjidaBangladesh, respectively.

This is an urban regeneration project in the Loreto District of Santa Maria a Vico, Caserta, Italy, recognized as a model of sustainable urban regeneration reflecting the needs of the local community. 2nd place went to Masjid Al Luqman by Iqbal SarawatBangladesh, and 3rd place to Urban Redevelopment of the Pedestrian Zone along Parkovaya Street and the Square in front of the Ice Palace by Mulina AlexandraRussia.

This project utilizes the legacy of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics to carry out sustainable urban regeneration, repurposing infrastructure that had been abandoned after the Olympics to create a resilient urban environment in harmony with nature. 2nd place went to The Park by Nguyen Hoang ManhVietnam, and 3rd place to Plaza Del Zarrón by César Buquerín De La Iglesia, Irene González Ruiz, and Antonio Valverde Sánchez, BOV EstudioSpain.

In Category F, Best Implemented Project in the Field of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Historic Buildings, 1st place went to CAP ROCAT – The Hidden Fortress by Estudio Antonio ObradorSpain, which preserves the structure of a military fortress while adding modern functionality. 2nd place was awarded to Restoration of Historical Mosques in Shusha – Ashagi Govhar Agha Mosque by Ali Emrah ÜnlüTurkey, and 3rd place to Paris Court by Nagy CsabaHungary.

Monetary awards and trophies were presented to the first-place winners in each category.
